The National
Association for Drama Therapy (NADT) was incorporated in l979 to
establish and uphold rigorous standards of professional competence
for drama therapists. The organization maintains requirements that
must be met to qualify as a registered drama therapist (RDT). NADT
promotes drama therapy through information and advocacy.
As a member
organization of the National Coalition of Arts Therapies Association
(NCATA) NADT is aligned with professionals in the fields of art,
music, dance, and poetry therapies, as well as group psychotherapy
and psychodrama.
The National
Association for Drama Therapy, while it attracts worldwide members,
also supports the work of the British Association for
Dramatherapists.

The British
Association for Dramatherapists is the professional body that
represents Dramatherapists and their professional practice.
Dramatherapy has been practiced in Britain for over thirty years and
during this time there has been a rapid movement towards
professionalisation.
The BADTh aims
to:
(1) Educate
the public about the benefits, theory and practice of dramatherapy;
(2) Support
dramatherapists working in the voluntary sector, education, health,
social services, prisons, and those who freelance;
(3) Increase
the availability of professionally trained and supervised drama
therapists;
(4) Ensure
that the high standards in training and work practice are maintained;
(5) Implement
equal opportunities poolicies in all aspects of training, work
practice, publications and internal organization and
(6) Respond
to an increasing demand for information and advice concerning both
dramatherapy and dramatherapists.
